Welcome to the Town of Wawayanda. Our Town is located in Orange County NY, with a population of 7,266 as recorded by the 2010 census. The Town is in the western part of the county, south of Middletown. The Town of Wawayanda was established in 1849 from the Town of Minisink. It had been first settled after the American Revolution. Wawayanda consists of approximately 35.33 square miles (22,610 Acres).

Governor Cuomo also announced the state is increasing the maximum fine for violations of the state's social distancing protocol from $500 to $1,000 to help address the lack of adherence to social distancing protocols. The Governor reminded localities that they have the authority to enforce the protocols.

On March 13, 2020, the Town of Wawayanda declared a Local State of Emergency in the entire town of Wawayanda in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a continuing effort to control the effects of this pandemic in the Town of Wawayanda, pursuant to the powers vested in me by New York State Executive Law §24, I hereby renew the State of Emergency in the Town of Wawayanda. The State of Emergency shall remain in effect for thirty (30) days, through May 31, 2020, and may be extended at that time.
